New Despicable Me 3 TV Spots Released

Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment have released two new TV spots for Despicable Me 3, which you can check out below.

Illumination, who brought audiences Despicable Me and the biggest animated hits of 2013 and 2015, Despicable Me 2 and Minions, continues the adventures of Gru, Lucy, their adorable daughters—Margo, Edith and Agnes—and the Minions in Despicable Me 3.

The film features the voices of Steve Carell, Kristen Wiig, Miranda Cosgrove, Dana Gaier, Nev Scharrel and Trey Parker and opens on June 30th.

‘Sing 2’ and ‘Minions 2’ Get 2020 Release Dates; ‘Secret Life of Pets 2’ Pushed Back

Universal and Illumination Entertainment are making some changes to their release calendar. In the wake of the enormous success of Sing, which has now grossed $429.7 million worldwide, Illumination has unsurprisingly put Sing 2 on the schedule. The follow-up film will again hit the holiday corridor, as it’s now slated for release on Christmas Day, December 25, 2020. Additionally, The Secret Life of Pets 2 has been pushed from July 13, 2018 to July 3, 2019, nearly a full year, and Minions 2 will drop on July 3, 2020 instead of July 10th.

Illumination Entertainment made a big statement in 2016, proving that the studio can succeed outside its lucrative Despicable Me franchise. The studio opened with that film in 2010 to solid success, but its follow-ups Hop and The Lorax weren’t near as successful. Illumination stayed the course with Despicable Me 2 and Minions, both of which did well, but last summer’s The Secret Life of Pets was a test to see whether the studio could launch a new franchise. To the tune of $875.5 million worldwide, they did, and this past December’s Sing solidified Illumination’s status as a bona fide contender in the animation studio world alongside the likes of Pixar and DreamWorks Animation.

The studio has Despicable Me 3 on the horizon, opening this summer with South Park’s Trey Parker voicing the villain. And they’re also diving back into the Dr. Seuss world with the Benedict Cumberbatch-fronted How the Grinch Sold Christmas, with The Cat in the Hat also in the works.

Quality-wise, Illumination hasn’t been able to come close to the high art of Pixar or recent Disney Animation output, but the studio has certainly struck a chord with audiences as evidenced by the ambitious release dates announced today. Check out their full upcoming slate below.

Despicable Me 3 – June 30, 2017
How the Grinch Stole Christmas – November 9, 2018
The Secret Life of Pets 2 – July 3, 2019
Minions 2 – July 3, 2020
Sing 2 – December 25, 2020

‘Despicable Me 3’ Trailer Introduces Trey Parker’s ’80s-Obsessed Villain

Gru, Lucy, and the Minions are back, and up against a new villain — the shoulder-pad sporting, moonwalking Balthazar Bratt.

minionsmovie

The “Despicable Me 3” trailer features Bratt (voiced by “South Park” creator Trey Parker) moonwalking on the ocean and up the side of a ship on a pair of skis, while clad in a purple jumpsuit and mullet, as Michael Jackson’s “Bad” pays in the background. Meanwhile back at the Anti-Villain League headquarters, they suspect they are witnessing a monster on the loose, until one member recognizes the villain for who he really is: “That’s no monster — that’s a man wearing shoulder pads!”

Bratt is a former ’80s child star whose show got canceled after he hit puberty. Now he plans on executing a full-fledged world domination.

Gru (Steve Carell) and his wife Lucy (Kristen Wiig) embark on a mission to defeat their newest nemesis, and it appears that Bratt’s battle of choice against Gru is a dance-off.

The film is the fourth in the multi-billion-dollar franchise from Illumination Entertainment. Illumination released the “Despicable Me” spinoff, “Minions,” in 2015. It grossed $1.2 billion worldwide. “Despicable Me” and “Despicable Me 2” debuted in 2010 and 2013, respectively.

Despicable Me 3” is directed by Kyle Balda and Pierre Coffin, and will hit theaters on June 30.

‘Despicable Me 3′ release date, spoilers: Gru and his twin brother fight former child star Balthazar along with minions

Despicable Me 3,” the third instalment of the “Despicable Me” series, will bring Gru (Steve Carell) and his daughters back to the big screen along with his minions. The movie is expected to get released a year from now, on June 30, 2017, but we have some amazing updates on what fans can expect from the animation.

Mower Minions

It is understood that the main theme of the movie will be the sibling rivalry between Gru and his long-lost identical twin Drew, also voiced by Carell. Drew is distinguished from our hero with his full blond hair and his all-white dressing style.

Despite their differences, Gru and Drew will find a way to get along and join together in the fight against the actual villain, Balthazar Bratt, voiced by Trey Parker of “South Park” fame.

Balthazar is a child star from the ’80s, who decided to take over the world once his career was finished. According to Cinema Blend, Balthazar is still bitter that his show was cancelled when he hit puberty and he hates being mocked. He is driven by the need of taking over the world, because he knows no one will ever make fun of him if he is the boss.

“Despicable Me” and “Minions” for Easter family fun

Easter is coming up soon. If you’re a parent who puts presents along with eggs and candy in Easter baskets, you can’t go wrong including the Blu-rays and DVDs with those lovable Yellow Minions and the three little girls that stole our hearts from the “Despicable Me” movies.

When the 2010 movie “Despicable Me” came out, there was a conversation online about who was the cutest little animated girl. It came down to Boo from “Monsters, Inc.” and Agnes from “Despicable Me.” Let’s face it, they are both adorable.

Despicable Me” struck a chord with viewers young and old and introduced the world to the little fun-loving and good-hearted Minions. As soon as the studio realized how much audiences loved their characters, they were quickly working on “Despicable Me 2” which was released in 2013. That was another success, and “Despicable Me 3” is tentatively scheduled for release in 2017.

However, before another film with Gru and his three adorable adopted daughters, the studio decided to make a film dedicated to the Minions who became overnight sensations with viewers. “Minions” came out last year and was another ratings success. It seems viewers cannot get enough of the yellow guys.

The discs all come with bonus features including mini-movies which are cute short antics with the characters. There are also cookie recipes and more fun with the cast and characters.

If your kids love Agnes, Edith and Margo along with Kevin, Stuart and Bob, you can’t go wrong with these Blu-ray combos in an Easter basket. And kids will love decorating their eggs to look like the minions. With “Despicable Me,” “Despicable Me 2” and “Minions” movies, eggs, yellow die, blue dye, markers and imaginations, this Easter will be a fun and creative one for the entire family.

When Does ‘Despicable Me 3′ Come Out? The Franchise’s Next Installment Could Conquer The World (Or The Box Office)

The Despicable Me franchise enters new territory on July 10 when its first spinoff film, Minions, hits theaters. Although Minions is centered on the now-iconic and extremely popular yellow henchmen from the first two Despicable Me films and features some stellar voice talent in franchise-newcomers Sandra Bullock, Jon Hamm, and Michael Keaton, fans still might be feeling nostalgic for Steve Carell’s Gru and the rest of the Despicable Me gang. Even though a young version of Gru will be making a cameo in Minions, frankly, it’s not enough. We need more Gru in our lives, and it seems the only way to get it is with a proper sequel to 2013′s Despicable Me 2. So, when does Despicable Me 3 come out?

Unfortunately, we’ve still got a bit of a wait ahead of us. Despicable Me 3 isn’t slated to premiere until June 30, 2017. Yes, we’re aware that’s a full two years in the future, which is definitely fodder enough for a supervillain origin story. But before you start making plans to steal the moon, know this: when it does eventually get released, Despicable Me 3 just might become the biggest hit of the entire franchise. Here are a few reasons why.

The Minions Have Raised The Bar

Already the breakout stars of the first two Despicable Me movies, the Minions are only going to grow in popularity following the debut of their own film. Especially when you consider the fact that Minions’ opening weekend box office take is predicted be $85 million in North America, which would put it ahead of both Despicable Me‘s $56.3 million and Despicable Me 2‘s $83.5 million. No small feat, especially considering that the latter film went on to gross almost one billion dollars at the worldwide box office.

This Could Be Steve Carell’s Last Outing

While nothing is confirmed, IMDb claims that Despicable Me 3 might be the last go-round for Carell as Gru, the franchise’s star. Carell’s performance (along with the Minions) has largely driven the series to this point, so it makes sense that a lot of people would turn out to bear witness to his swan song.

Inside Out Had Major Success

If a rising tide lifts all boats, then the success of Pixar’s Inside Out can only be good news for Despicable Me 3. Inside Out has been a resounding critical success and will likely surpass Monsters University’s total domestic box office take by its fourth weekend to become the animation studio’s biggest hit since 2010’s Toy Story 3. With Pixar, seen by many as the leader in film animation, officially out of their recent slump (if you want to call it that), then other animation studios like Despicable Me 3 producer Illumination Entertainment can only benefit.

It’s gonna be a long time before the next Despicable Me movie hits theaters, but thankfully, we have this month’s Minions to make the wait go smoother before Gru and the rest of his gang come back into our lives for another round.

‘Minions’ 2015 Movie Trailer 3: Supervillain Sandra Bullock Leads ‘Despicable Me’ Spinoff

Following the massive success of the animated comedy “Despicable Me 2,” which earned nearly $1 billion at the worldwide box office, Universal Pictures decided that not only would they go forward with the obvious “Despicable Me 3,” but also get more mileage out of the franchise with this summer’s spinoff “Minions.”

Steve Carell isn’t returning to voice Gru, instead the spinoff will feature the voice of Sandra Bullock as new lead supervillain Scarlett Overkill. The rest of the voice cast includes Jon Hamm (“Mad Men”), Michael Keaton (“Birdman”), Allison Janney (“Juno”) and Steve Coogan (“Happyish”).

The film’s co-director, Pierre Coffin, also provides the voices of the three main minions – Kevin, Bob and Stuart. Kyle Balda (“The Lorax”) co-directs from a screenplay by Brian Lynch (“Puss in Boots”, “Hop”).

“Starting as single-celled yellow organisms, Minions evolve through the ages, perpetually serving the most despicable of masters. Continuously unsuccessful at keeping these masters-from T. rex to Napoleon-the Minions find themselves without someone to serve and fall into a deep depression. But one Minion named Kevin has a plan, and he-alongside teenage rebel Stuart and lovable little Bob-ventures out into the world to find a new evil boss for his brethren to follow. The trio embarks upon a thrilling journey that ultimately leads them to their next potential master, Scarlet Overkill (Academy Award winner Bullock), the world’s first-ever female super-villain. They travel from frigid Antarctica to 1960s New York City, ending in mod London, where they must face their biggest challenge to date: saving all of Minionkind… from annihilation.”

Minions” is sure to be one of the biggest hits of the summer, competing with Pixar’s “Inside Out” for the highest grossing animated movie at the box office.

Minions” is set for a July 10th release date and they’ll return to the big-screen in “Despicable Me 3” on June 30th, 2017.
